Katie is a freelance journalist and photographer who has contributed stories, reviews and photographs to several publications, including IPS, IRIN, The Journal, the Sunday Sun, HotShoe, and the Toronto Star's "Africa Without Maps" blog. Katie's interest in international development and humanitarian news led her to work overseas in Malawi in 2011 with the Canadian organization, Journalists for Human Rights. Next, she will be embarking on a fellowship with The Forgotten International, where she will be working directly with the Department of Information and International Relations of the Central Tibetan Administration in Dharamsala, India. Impassioned by human rights reporting, documentary photography and on-the-ground perspective, she seeks to bring attention to the stories and issues people think they don't care about.
